At the MEM Leadership Academy, our participants go through a 1.5-year intensive educational journey, after which, with the direct support of experienced mentors, they move on to the most responsible stage — developing and implementing their own community projects. This is not simply education; it is about taking real responsibility and building a deep connection with one’s own community.
One of the latest successful and inspiring examples of this educational journey is the “Spark of an Idea” project created by our graduate Armine, which was funded by the Diaconia Charitable Fund.
On June 5, Armine organized another meaningful and exceptional meeting within her project in the Arteni community, titled “I Am a Part and the Whole of My Community.”
During the meeting, participating young people, together with invited guests, actively engaged in the process of mapping the resources of Arteni. They identified key challenges facing the community and discussed important issues that concern them and require timely responses and solutions.
Moreover, this meeting marked the beginning of a new process of great historical and cultural value: young people of Arteni will start exploring the cultural heritage of their community, collecting memories and stories from local residents, and eventually creating a unique map of the community’s history.
We extend our special gratitude to the guests of the meeting — MEM Academy Co-Founder Hripsime Khanzadyan, Deputy Director of Diaconia Charitable Fund Anna Janbazyan, and Founder of Avanta Center Lilit Tumanyan — for inspiring young people and sharing this important day with them.
